Help Katherine Herrera Garza campaign today for a better tomorrow in San Antonio District 3!
I am the concerned citizen, the worried mother, the tired daughter and the American just doing what needs to get done to get by and prosper.
I was born and raised on the southeast side of San Antonio, TX. As a graduate of East Central High school, I learned to embrace both the urban and rural traditions of this great city and county. I am also a dedicated wife and my favorite role of all a mother of four very strong-willed children. I have worked for a number of small businesses as well as a couple of corporate, but have to say I prefer the small business because of the very family-like atmosphere they provide as well as the fact that a small business can really utilize everyone as an individual. I mostly enjoy giving back and volunteering whenever available, I find more happiness in helping others and seeing how kindness and love can be contagious and be paid forward.
As a citizen of District 3, I have my worries and concerns. Living in the City Base area, the growing homeless population is troubling and I have seen the city put band aids on this area as well as others that require more care. I have to worry about unsafe roadways that not only have the potential of causing accidents but also create unnecessary expensive wear and tear on our vehicles. The random acts of violence that keep occurring and busy our news and headlines on the daily that seem to escalate with every passing week. Scared to let my children walk around the neighborhood unaccompanied or even to go to the grocery store at night by myself. With COVID the worries grew. Seeing family and friends on the southside suffer from this virus more greatly due to underlying health conditions and less quality healthcare. Small businesses, the heartbeat of the southside, that already struggled to get by pre-pandemic suffering or completely out of business now. Our senior citizens having to cope with little contact from family and having to adjust to a more technological world that they were not used to. These are just some of the issues that have led me to throw my hat into this election. I was tired of being scared and worried and have decided to do something about it.
I have always been an avid history buff and really enjoy the ins and outs of American democracy. Where many have disregarded the great workings that is democracy and have requested more restraints on our civil liberties, I do my best to educate those who do not see its true values.
True American democracy only works when the everyday person has decided to participate in it again. Until we have more people voicing their concerns City Council will continue to take advantage of the silence, of the misguided information it works hard to reassure their constituents will be great for them. Slowly but surely our great democracy is being taken advantage of. People of San Antonio and most importantly District 3, it's time to take our city back.
I am the concerned citizen, the everyday person and I vow to be your voice in city hall, to listen to you, to work with you. Most importantly I want to empower this great district to realize its strengths and potentials and to let you know that the power resides in you! I will lead this great district to brighter days, but I require your help to get there.
